The time has come....... after friends telling me I needed to switch.. I finally gave in. I will miss this blog..... for this is where everything started. You have watched my life change here..... you've watched me grow as a photographer, mom and person. You've seen my childrens first day of school, their first loose tooth, you've seen them happy, goofy and you've watched me love them, you've seen me pregnant, you were there when we welcomed that baby, and you've watched her grow through my eyes. I hope you will bookmark the new site... love it as much as I do..........and continue to watch me, my photography and my children grow. As I was laying with my 6 year old at bedtime tonight... all was quiet.... we had already said our prayers... we had already said goodnight.... I was just waiting for him to fall asleep when I heard.... I love you. The strongest three words ever put together...... and they made my heart swell. I gently said back.. "oh.. I love you too honey"

Today- I'm thankful

Someone I briefly came to know lost her battle with cancer... a young first time mother.....who was diagnosed with cancer when her daughter was a few months old. She leaves behind a precious baby girl who is close in age with my own Addi. It really hit home to me.. and my heart is broken for that family. But- most of all.... my heart is broken for Kathy.... the things she will miss...... her little girls childhood..... the laughs.. the memories.

I turned 28 today..... and today- I'm thankful. I dont care about gifts.... or even a cake. I dont care that there is a sinkful of dishes calling my name... or that my hamper upstairs is flowing over with laundry.. Today- I'm going to celebrate my life- another day with my husband- children and friends. I'm going to celebrate living.... who cares about my weight today... or that being 28 means I'm closer to 30... I'll probably eat more than I should today- but who cares? I'm going to enjoy today- I'm not going to worry about the crumbs on the floor- I'm going to treasure my family..... and thank God for another year... another day... another moment... of life.

Today- I'M THANKFUL!!!!! & I'm going to celebrate life!

I was telling a friend of mine today about the photos my mom brought out while I was at her house last night... and she sent me this clip-

I loved it... and it spoke to me. Its true! Pictures speak..... As I looked through that old shoebox stuffed full of old family photos... I could have cried. I saw my family- some have gone on... and some still here. They were young.. they were happy. I saw my great grandma as a young woman, raising a house full of children.... a side of her I had never seen... b/c I only remember her older. I saw pictures of my granny... a blonde haired little girl with a half buttoned up sweater and tattered shoes on. I imagined her as that child.. what was her favorite dolly? Her playing with her siblings... She grew up to be such a wonderful grandma, who nurtured me, loved me, and worried over me. But- she wasnt always my granny.... she was young.... she was happy... she was safe and carefree. A little girl with messy blonde hair- and I loved that little girl.

It just reminded me of how quickly time is passing. One day someone will be looking through an old shoebox of pictures of me and my children... what will they see? What story will I tell? That I was young. I was happy. I was a good mom. I loved my children. I loved pictures.

Thats a quote from a friends facebook. I've loved it from the first time I read it. I find it soo true. While my children get annoyed at their mother always in their face clicking her camera.....I know one day they'll look back on all these images of their childhood and smile. The pictures will bring back to life, those little moments of their childhood. Maybe they will have forgotten that snaggletooth smile...the look on their face on christmas morning.... or how they loved running barefoot in the summer catching lightnin bugs. So... if all these images tell you anything later in life... please know .. mama loved you... and did her best to capture your childhood.... as told by YOU.

I love her.. everything about her.

I love the way she smiles when I go in to get her from her crib every morning.

I love the way she has to touch the banister when we are going down the stairs.

I love that I can ask her where is baby Addi? and she will go and point to the large picture of her hanging in the hall. And gently say "ayeyaye"

I love the way she will go up to the TV and dance and turn around to see if I'm watching.. and make the sweetest grin for me.

I love how she twists her right food in a circle over and over again.

I love how when she hears something she'll whisper "whasat"

I love that she hands out cuddle moments sparingly...that when I receive one.. it makes my heart soar.

I love how she'll reach for the keys hanging on the rack.. on our way out the door.

I love how she makes me feel... as if I'm the most important person in the world.

Those are lyrics to a new song that is coming on the radio station I listen to.. and I love love love it. Its so true.. life is passing by so quickly. I know I've said it before.. but seriously it feels just like yesterday I had Kailey-Trey & Addi. I blinked and now they are 10-6 and 1. Where does time go? Why wont it slow down? I just love them- every second of them. I dont want to let it pass without savoring every moment... treasuring every second of... them.

This is the same car Trey used to ride in, and we introduced it to Addison. We saved it all this time... I guess I just couldnt part with it b/c of his attachment to it as a baby. Seems like only yesterday I took Trey outside to play in his little car... and now its Addi's turn. :)

Laughter is...

I had a great time with this couple!! They are expecting their first little baby (a boy) in 3 weeks. (can you believe she is that far along?) I was very stressed over this session b/c the weekend they drove a few hours to get here for the session... it decided to rain. I was walking around all day.. praying that it would clear up before the session. It stopped literally 5 minutes before I walked out the door.... and was beautiful the rest of the evening. The muddy road to the field? now thats a different story :)

Can you tell how happy they are together? They giggled and laughed almost the entire session. We had a great time in that field!

Thanks Josh & Tasha for letting me capture one of the most amazing moments in your lives! There is nothing like the moment your child enters the world... the rush... the happiness... the joy. There is no other feeling like it. Your little boy is going to be so loved- I can tell. If you love as much as you laugh------ how blessed he is. :)

Sorry for the tons of images.. but seriously? Arent they the cutest? and is she not glowing? SUCH a beautiful pregnant gal.

I wish you both the best in your new roles as parents. There is no greater job- and no greater reward :)

This has to be one of my favorite sessions to date! The house was beautiful.. with all its sweet charm. I seriously want to live there! It didn't take me long to see how loved "S" is.... that her parents world is wrapped up in her. Even Grammie & Pop stopped by...which made the session even more special! Little "S" is so very blessed with so many people around her who adore her. It was truly an easy session..... I didn't have to force interaction out.. it came naturally!

Thank you Sarah for the opportunity to capture your families love towards one another! I think every picture should tell a story- your story. May the moments I captured always make you smile..... and remind you of the love you carry for your little girl.... your joy..... your hearts delight.

Surrounded by family & friends... we celebrated Addi's first birthday! It was a wonderful day... she played and had a blast in her own giant cupcake. I hope these pictures reflect just how special I tried to make her 1st birthday :) Months of searching for cupcake party supplies- a perfect cupcake party dress and decorating ideas.. her day was finally here. She had such a great day! She LOVED being sang "happy birthday" to.. and we have sang it everyday since.. Its turned into her birthday week. hehe.

TIME- {52 week challenge: week 1}

I have joined a great group of photographers for a 52 week challenge! 1 picture a week for a year... and every week has a "theme". This weeks theme was "time". I started thinking... what does time mean to me? Time to me- are all the times I treasure inside... the laughs, the smiles... the things that made my heart go pitter patter. I have had some wonderful times... times that I will always treasure... and with those times comes age. I look at older people and think... they were once my age... they didnt have those wrinkles.. and I wonder about the "times" in between. The treasures- the laughs- the smiles.. the things that still make their hearts go pitter patter.

I walked by her room the other week.. and this is how she was sleeping. Capturing the little moments in my childrens lives is what inspired me to begin my photography journey 3 years ago. I know its silly.. but I'm very thankful for cameras. It doesnt have to be the best.. top of line camera to capture something you dont ever want to forget. This was one of those moments when I went running for my camera downstairs.. praying she wouldnt move an inch. I ran back up them just as fast, and peeked in to find her exactly how I left her.. I smiled.. and clicked the shutter. :) I dont ever want to forget.

Yep! It happened.. Addi-ree took her first steps on 5-8-2010. The day before mothers day. Each day she adds a step! I took her in my room today to capture some of her first steps. Cant u see how proud she is of herself on her little face? She just lights up... and says yayyyyy while we all clap for her.

Addi loves her big sister. She even knows now what I mean when I say "you wanna go get Trey-Trey & KK?" She'll give me that big smile.. and come flying to me in the walker. As we walk out the door and by the keyrack- she'll reach for the keys :)

This was part of my mothers day gift. KK hates having her picture taken.. so on mothers day I took advantage.. and told her it could be a gift to me... and she went with it. :)

Celebrating all moms! There is a quote I hear often .... "the best thing I've ever been called.. is mom" and it holds true for me.

I love being a mom. YES, its challenging at times.. but the payoff is worth it. My children made mothers day super special for me this year. I came downstairs to a kitchen decorated with blue streamers.. and all kinds of cards. Kbugs even hid little letters throughout the house for me in places she knew I would find them... which when put together spelled out " I <3 u " Addi gave me her present early- saturday evening when she took 5 steps all by herself. Surprise mom! :)

My pastor preached an awesome mothers day message yesterday... about the awesome responsibility we hold as mothers.. parents. We are given the honor of molding.. shaping these little people God has blessed us with. This scares me sometimes... the responsibility to raise a human... not something to be taken lightly. I can raise them to be trouble makers... mean.. not willing to take authority.. bitter adults. Or.. I can raise them to be loving, kind.. gentle.. willing to help...happy adults. I make mistakes often.. and for that I'm sorry. I'm not an awesome mother all the time.. but I'm leaning on an awesome God who is slowly changing me. I love my children- they are pieces of me.... I will send to a generation I will not see.

I couldnt resist adding that little song my aunt used to sing to me when I was little in my tulip garden post! Thanks to another photog who told me about this place.. I was able to go and see it for myself today! I even picked a few tulips for my kitchen island. This place had tons of country charm!!! Just my kind of place. We took a sandwich from yoders- and had a picnic there too. It was a great day!

Addi was not in the mood for pictures beside the tulips. :(

It finally happened!! Addi's hair is long enough for a bow!!! I just had to put one in last night!! Isnt it CUTE!?

I was trying to get a picture of her with her bow in her hair.... and she wouldnt sit still. I decided to show her the picture of herself on my camera screen... she just giggled at herself. I got back and said now smile- and she gave me the biggest grin and finally showed her top toofies.

Time has flown by, Addi has grown. It seriously only feels like last week she was born. I look at her and cannot believe how big she is.. how smart she's becoming.. and how quick she learned to tear into cabinets removing all of their contents. ;) It makes me question why hasnt anyone figured out how to keep them little yet? hehe.

These are my favorite moments to capture! When Addi has no clue mama is taking her picture- and shes just there in her own little world. I saw her watching her daddy work on the push mower out the window today and just had to run for my camera. :)

Everytime I've walked by Addi's room since sunday I've been wanting to snap some pics of this dress hanging on her door. I grabbed it at a thrift store sunday- its a size 24 months. (hehe) Pink & polka dotted- had to have it. I havent been able to bring myself to hang it in her closet.... I just love the feel of it hanging on her door. Its like everytime I pass her room- I'm reminded theres a little girl in there. My little girl :) I'm sure there will be many more pics of this dress in the future- but for now its gonna hang right here....

When I sat down awhile back to find a new song for my blog... I will admit it took me hours. I didnt want a song everyone else had (I like to be different) I ran across this song.. and instantly knew.. IT WAS THE ONE. I wanted a song that was about childhood, and the magic of it. This is my goal when I photograph a child... to capture the magic that surrounds them. Think back to your childhood, everything was sweeter... Christmas morning was magical.. running into the living room to see what santa left under the tree, spending nights with your granny and never wanting to leave, running barefoot in the summer and taking in every minute of your freedom before school started again. I can still remember taking my dolls and playing house outside, the huge tree at the edge of my grannys woods was my house, my car was my old trusty bike. I would pretend to drop my baby off at the sitters, and drive to my job.. then I would come home to my big tree and be a mom :) Even now as an adult there are things that take me back -smells- the smell of lilacs will instantly take me back to summers at my grannys. Childhood is ~magical~

I wanted to share the lyrics of my song... because I love it that much. I come here often just to listen to it.

I was reading a fellow photographers blog the other day, and in her about me section it said "I just love taking pictures" That stuck out to me, because I can relate. It makes me happy! I just love it. I've always known this is what I wanted to do. I would tell my hubby, "one day I want to be a photographer" I'm so glad I followed my heart, and pursued my dream. I love capturing life. With all the other wonderful things in my life, photography is kinda like my cherry on top :)

For months while pregnant, my mom assured me that my third child would indeed inherit her red hair. I jokingly refused, because I've never been a fan of red hair. Fast forward to May 25th, 3:26 am... when Addi entered the world, and the first words out of my moms mouth were-- "she has red hair Jess" I couldnt believe that indeed, she was a redhead :) We had a brunette, we had a blonde... but now , we had a redhead. hehe. The first few weeks of Addi's life, I was called daily with my mom asking "is her hair still red? its not changing is it?" I must admit I was not too happy about the red hair at first- I thought about the sunburns ahead ( I had to watch my younger brother who is a redhead go through this) and the teasing that comes along with red hair. Now, I couldnt imagine my little Addi-ree with anything but red hair. For months now I have had so many comments about her red hair, even strangers approach to comment on how beautiful it is, and how different her hair color is.

I see it now, as a little something she inherited from her grandma- something that she will carry with her forever. Something she could possibly pass on to her children one day..... and she'll be saying "yea, she gets it from her great grandma" I see it as beautiful , special, and Addison. But above all things- I see it as something that makes grandma grin everytime we see her :)

I snapped these today to show grandma, that after Addi's baths her hair is wavy... just like hers. I dont know if its going to grow out wavy like grandmas too!! We'll see!!!!

You snuck up on me quickly. Wasnt it was just yesterday I held my firstborn for the first time? She is 10 now. Wasnt it just yesterday I turned 18 and thought I knew everything? when really I knew nothing? Those years flew by, and now I'm 27. Wasnt it just yesterday Kailey became a big sister... and our family of three became 4? Trey man is 6 now, and in his first year of school. Wasnt it just yesterday I celebrated 10 years with my husband? Even though some didnt think we would make it? Wasnt it just yesterday God gave us a little surprise wrapped up in pink ribbons with red hair? Man.. those 7 months went by fast. Addi has two teeth, and a sweet attachment to her mommy. God has been so good to me... and I've enjoyed my life. If I had to leave one thought for you today.... it would be. DONT BLINK.

IF I COULD LIVE MY LIFE OVER
I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded.

I would have eaten popcorn in the "GOOD" living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried less while watching television and laughed more while watching life.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away 9 months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment realizing that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more "I love yous"...more "I'm sorrys"...but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it...live it...and never give it back.

This will be Addi's very first christmas! She has had alot of firsts this month- her first tooth, first time in the walker,first christmas tree (which she thinks is so cool) and her first encounter with snow.

Addi has!! :) Turned around while cleaning today and heard something... looked back and Addi was going through the trash. What kind of mom would I be if I made her get out of the trash before I snapped a few pics?? haha.

I asked my friend to snap some of my family yesterday after I took hers. I must say it was very different being in front of the camera rather than behind- I so needed a twin so that I could have control of every aspect. Didnt my friend to a great job? She knows how picky I am- about many things. heehe. Even she said- I would never do this all the time, I didnt like taking those pictures. haha. Thank you for taking some for us- I want my children to be able to see me some pictures too. :)

Thats the song that my friend sings to her kids everynight before bed. She is a single mom- and one of the strongest women I know. I'm very proud of her, b/c I know how tough these past 4 years have been. She teaches her kids that no matter how many times life knocks you down- you get back up and keep climbing. :)

Pumpkin patch

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch on sunday..... they always enjoy it. I didnt get many pictures b/c I was too busy enjoying the day with my kids. We went through a corn maze (and I even cheated and asked two little boys how to get out) SHHH!! We had a wonderful evening. I did take a few snaps here and there... mostly scenery which is unusual for me. I asked my father in law to snap a pic of my family.

My family <3..... of course Addi is the only one NOT looking at the camera. Addi has recently become obsessed with shoes/feet.

The kids went outside to play this morning before the rain set it.... and I decided to grab my camera and catch some of their everyday moments. Its easy to get caught up in sessions that I forget to capture what inspired me to begin my photography journey to begin with.... my children. I love these times when its just me and my camera... no one but myself to please. It doesnt matter if I get everything correct ...... its just me having fun.

Fall has to be one of the most beautiful things our eyes will ever behold. The burst of wonderful color, just before the dead winter.

I have a few favorite things about fall.... the colors, the smell of pumpkin candles burning on my island, and leaves dancing when I drive over them on the road.

Well.... last night I finally did it. For those of you who gave me a hard time telling me to do it already... Addi-Ree spent her first night in her crib. I felt a little empty last night, honestly. While I laid there, listening to the baby monitor on its highest volume on my nightstand.... I missed her. I know she couldnt stay in her basinet beside my bed forever... but I'm not happy about moving her to her crib all alone in that room either. I missed her even more this morning , I'm so used to looking down and seeing her grinning first thing in the mornings... today I had to go into her room.... but she was so happy to see mama.

This is her when I came in to get her this morning... she did so good last night.

My little girl is growing too quickly... this week she rolled over. She can hold her bottle on occasion now too. I love how alert she is... and how she will search a room over until she finds my face. I love her little fat legs, and those chubby cheekies. I love how she blows bubbles when she is upset... haha. I love looking over the edge of my bed, looking down into the basinet and seeing the biggest smile greet me every morning. I love her little giggles.... they melt my heart. I love how she totally relaxes her body when I'm giving her a bath... she's already learned to appreciate a nice warm bubbie bath. She makes me laugh when I open up her diaper and find a lovely surprise inside.. and how everytime she manages to giggle as if she knows she got me. I have enjoyed her so much... and couldnt imagine her not being in our lives now. She has been such a blessing to me.

I was reminded today while visiting friends and their 1 day old little boy.... how fast our babies grow up. While holding him there in the hospital... I couldnt believe that only 4 months ago (today) that I brought my 3rd miracle into this world. I couldnt believe that only 4 months ago.. my little Addi was that tiny. I am still amazed when I look at my children that I actually gave birth.. its still such a miracle to me. God did such an amazing thing.... the way life comes into this world. I could do it 10 more times, and I would still find it amazing. New life is amazing.....

Snuggle time with mommy... She is so content when I'm rocking her. These are some of my favorite moments as a mom.... the way she stares at me during our cuddles as if she thinks I'm the best thing there is, and there is no one quite like me. Its a wonderful feeling to be adored.
